Honorable Mention, Professional Non-Original without Instruction

This canvas was for a class I taught several times at a local needlepoint shop. Most of the students in these classes are not experienced stitchers and haven’t taken formal class instruction, so my goal was to make something fun and educational all in one. Due to the nature of this design, everyone’s canvas was different – whichever letter they chose! It was quite the fun challenge. We did the class in three 2-day weekends. It’s wonderful to see beginning stitchers getting excited to try new stitches and threads. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

The students learned how to use so many different threads, ribbons, and beads. They had fun playing with color, too. One of my students stitched three of them – one in pinks/purples/oranges, one in purples/blues/greens, and one in golds and taupes.
