Project Runway Competition Winner

In Dawn Donnelly’s 2025 ‘’Project Runway Needlework Style’ class, students were challenged to be inspired by an image to interpret in stitching, with the caveat that the piece include wire. I was fascinated by the lines and shapes formed by the movement of the Somerset Inn staircase as viewed from the side. I chose various threads in a monochromatic blue/green value scheme to emphasize shapes, with horizontal black steps and vertical white railings to emphasize lines. The curved banisters are interpreted in gold and rust wire.
