This Gingerbread Cottage is a design in Stumpwork Embroidery by Jenny Adin-Christie (a UK needlework designer using many techniques such as surface embroidery, goldwork, needlelace, stumpwork, etc.). I have finished a number of Jenny’s pieces, always finding them challenging, designed with that ‘WOW’ factor, and usually based on some historical dwelling, notion, story, or true-life experience..

Most importantly, to date, every piece has been interesting and the finished product has been ‘complete’ (i.e., not missing a function or part that one would expect with the particular design). Over time, I have made minor changes to the design – such as in this piece: Japanese knots added to the surface of the tall green bushes; dark green grass replaced by light green. – and I am happy to say, I have several more of Jenny’s designs waiting for me to tackle them!
