Inspired by a Christmas card, the design was enlarged and transferred to canvas. It was then treated as a “painted canvas” and stitches and fibers were decided upon as the piece came to life. The execution of the snow was the most challenging. The piece needed to portray the “fluffiness” of the snow as well as the depth versus the dusting of snow. Many stitches and fibers were tried before the final outcome was stitched.
