3rd Place, Non-Professional Non-Original with Instruction

“Carolina Lily” was a class taught by Pam Douda at Tomorrow’s Heirlooms Needlework Shop in Glen Ellyn, IL. Anthony Minieri was the designer of the piece. I took this class because I liked the look of the stylized lily, plus the opportunity to do a blackwork background. I selected my own colorway as I liked none of those provided. The piece was a lesson in needle blending to produce a smooth gradation of color. I changed the blackwork design to a more simplistic one, which for me was a better fit for the lily design.
