Simply Spring is another one of my whimsical tree designs. When I thought of Easter and my trees, I saw a bunny. I’d been looking for a stitched piece to hang at that time of year and have it not be cheesy. So, I took the base pattern of my trees and made a few changes: adding bunny feet as the base and floppy bunny ears, which could also bend, as the topper. The ears are made with buttonhole stitches around wire sitting on white cotton fabric. And, finally, picking those spring colors and fun buttons.

I like working with scrapbooking paper, so I took this opportunity to add a sign, which can be easily removed. It’s a teaching piece and the student gets the choice of the piece being a bunny or not, so the topper and sign can be changed.
