Michele Roberts

2010 Lifetime Achievement Awardee

Michele Roberts was a former bank vice-president with a B.A. from Rice University and an M.B.A. in Finance. She specialized in historical research, techniques, Stumpwork, and oldwork. Embroidering since early childhood, she did ecclesiastical commissions and studied in Europe.

Michele was an EGA-certified Graduate Teacher, a juried member of EGA’s Fiber Forum, and a Senior Master Teacher in the American Needlepoint Guild (ANG), for which she received the honorary Chottie Alderson and Massachusetts Scholarships. She earned the level of Distinction when she completed her Royal School of Needlework Certification in embroidery techniques. Michele completed her Cities and Guilds Certificate in Stumpwork at the Embroiderers’ Guild at Hampton Court Palace. Her works received numerous first place and Best of Show awards. Michele’s guild service included local, regional, and national positions with ANG and EGA.

A Life Friend of the Royal School of Needlework, Michele taught at many national seminars, including ANG, EGA, NAN, Callaway Gardens, and the National Altar Guild Liturgical Arts Seminars. She created correspondence courses for ANG and EGA, as well as several CyberWorkshops and Workshops by Mail for ANG. Michele’s work was featured in NeedlePointers, Needlepoint NowNeedleArts and EGA’s Margaret Parshall Gallery, and she was the author of several needlework books.
