All Vietnamese hand-embroidery artists usually meditate before they start working. All embroidery artists who embroider silk by hand are trained to hand embroider a work that must look at least 90% true to the photograph. The original photograph of orchids was so perfect for me to hand embroider that I decided to hand embroider the orchids. Materials include black satin cotton fabric and Vietnamese silk threads. Stitches include mostly long and short, satin, and stem stitches.
